The Junior League of Pensacola is now accepting applications for membership. A call for membership is only open one time a year, and the deadline to submit an application is April 15. If you are interested in learning more about the Junior League and how you can become a member, please send an email to lexie@juniorleagueofpensacola.org or call us at 433-4421 to request an application. Once you submit an application for membership, you will be invited to attend an “Information Session” (either May 13 or 20), where you may learn more about the Junior League, what the obligations are for membership and what to expect in the coming year. From here you may decide if the Junior League is a fit for you and your lifestyle. Who is eligible for membership in the Junior League of Pensacola? Junior League membership is open to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism. The Junior League of Pensacola was chartered in 1956 and began with 37 founding members. Today, there are over 200 active members and 400 sustaining members, volunteering over 10,000 hours and raising $125,000 annually for our community service projects. The Junior League now focuses all volunteer efforts on projects supporting more than 3,000 foster care children and families throughout Northwest Florida through endeavors such as “Steppin’ Out,” “Done in a Day,” and “Grants for Excellence.” With so many members, the long-term positive impact of voluntarism has undeniably changed lives in the Pensacola community. Junior League members come from all walks of life - corporate executives, business owners, teachers, attorneys, at-home wives and mothers. But all members have one thing in common...a heart for building a better community. What does the Junior League of Pensacola require of a new member?Upon becoming a new member of the Junior League of Pensacola, you may be expected to attend new member and general membership meetings between the months of August and May, support fundraisers through time and financial obligations, paying annual dues, and participating in a new member “class project” to assist foster care children in Northwest Florida. |
